FishMaryland - How to Submit your catch


FishMaryland is Maryland’s recreational fishing award program and is a fun way to explore year-round recreational fishing and enjoy Maryland’s affordable, accessible, diverse, and high-quality fishing opportunities.​
 
Any angler fishing legally in Maryland may catch and report a trophy-sized fish by landing any of more than 60 eligible species in five categories (Atlantic Coast, Chesapeake Bay, Nontidal, Catch and Release and Invasive) at or above a certain minimum size.

Here's how to submit your catch

  1. A photo is required in order to qualify for a certificate. 
    • Measure the length of your catch in inches (see illustration) and take a photo of it on the measuring device as shown.

    • Make sure the fish meets the minimum eligibility size for the species you caught.
    • When taking a picture with your cell phone, hold the phone horizontally (landscape), not vertically.
  2. Fill out the registration for your catch (you will be required to email in your photo during the process).
  3. Email your photo to fishingreports.dnr@​maryland.gov, as instructed on the registration form. 
  4. Once your catch is verified, you will receive an electronic copy of your award certificate via email. Standard mail certificates are also available.​

  6. We typically reply to emails within 72 business hours. Please allow more time around holidays.

FishMaryland Milestone Awards


Milestone awards recognize those skillful anglers who catch trophy-sized catches of different species caught after January 1, 2019. Each milestone is marked with a certificate and a limited edition FishMaryland Milestone sticker.

  1. ANGLER AWARD - Catch three different species, meeting the minimum length. Angler receives certificate and a limited edition FishMaryland Milestone yellow sticker.
  2. EXPERT ANGLER AWARD - Catch five different species, meeting the minimum length. Angler receives certificate and a limited edition FishMaryland Milestone red sticker.
  3. MASTER ​ANGLER AWARD - Catch ten different species, meeting the minimum length. Angler receives certificate, a limited edition FishMaryland Milestone black sticker and becomes eligible for a $250 BASS PRO SHOPS GIFT CARD.
