The Brookside Gardens Nature Exploration Area in Wheaton, is adjacent to the Brookside Garden Nature Center. It includes an outdoor play area that was built with the help of Eagle Scouts, volunteers, and interns. This play area has lots of spaces for visitors to explore and play in the natural world. The space includes a digging area, a giant scaled bird’s nest, log rolling area, musical area, stump jump, a bird blind, colorful artwork and lots more. There’s also a little set of child sized table and chairs made from logs. Six large tree logs line one side of the play area so that older kids can climb and balance on top.
The natural play area serves as a bridge to playing in larger natural areas adjacent to the area including a larger meadow area and woods.
