Patuxent River Park Nature Exploration Area

Located in the Jug Bay Natural Area, across the road from the Columbia Air Center Memorial, and tucked just inside the woodland’s edge is where guests of multiple ages can find ways to immerse themselves in natural exploration. The space includes a giant rope spider web to climb on, a wooden tree house, a canoe sandbox (with a stone “river”), tree stump jump, loose parts area,a bamboo shoot sound spindle, and many other evolving features. We even have Eagle-Scout made Leopold benches for sitting, observing, listening, etc. The Nature Exploration Area shares the same operating hours as the park (dawn to dusk).
