The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) is a law enforcement agency with statewide jurisdiction to enforcement all state laws and regulations.

The agency:

  • Enforces fish and wildlife laws and regulations.

  • Patrols 500,000 acres owned or controlled by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources that are visited and used by 12 million residents and visitors each year.

  • Protects Maryland’s recreational boating community from Deep Creek Lake to the Atlantic Ocean through education, enforcement and outreach. Aids boaters in distress and conducts search and rescue on all state waterways. Investigates boating accidents and emergencies.

  • Oversees the state’s maritime homeland security efforts, including daily patrols of critical waterfront infrastructure.
