Thurmont Pack 270 Trout Fishing and Litter Clean Up
Location: Frank Bentz Pond
Along with being an avid angler Ryley is also an avid outdoorsman and belongs to Cub Scout Pack 270 in Thurmont. What better way to introduce his friends to fishing than to have a Den meeting at our local pond! Ryley and his fellow scouts spent the evening fishing for rainbow trout and managed to land quite a few on salmon eggs. They also performed a service project and cleaned up litter left from fellow anglers during the trout opener. It was a win/win for the boys and wildlife!

50 Diamond Jim Fish Tagged
Location: Chesapeake Bay
Ryley had the privilege of participating in the DNR Diamond Jim tagging program with other Maryland Youth Fishing Club members. They fished the Chesapeake Bay aboard the Never Enuff Charter Boat. Today they tagged their quota of 50 Striped Bass! They also caught many undersized fish amd even got to keep a few for home! It was a tough day as Bluefish continually stole bait but the kids managed to even the score by putting over 40 Bluefish in the boat. Ryley didn't catch the biggest today but he managed to catch the most unique, a "humpback" striped bass was successfully caught, tagged and released. They caught all those fish and were back to the dock by 1:00 pm! Thanks Department of Natural Resources!
